Who are ESA?
Ernesto Spinelli
& Associates was formed by a team of expert practitioners in
the related fields of psychotherapy, counselling, coaching, and
mediation and who share a common commitment to and expertise in
applied existential analysis.

Spinelli leads the ESA team and, together, we have made it our aim
to be at the forefront of the advancement of the various facilitative
professions.

Professor Ernesto Spinelli, PhD has gained an international
reputation as one of the leading contemporary trainers and theorists
of existential analysis as applied to psychology and psychotherapy
and, more recently, the related arenas of coaching, facilitation
and conflict mediation. He is a Fellow of both the British Psychological
Society (BPS) and the British Association of Counselling and
Psychotherapy (BACP), a United kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
(UKCP) registered existential psychotherapist as well as a Founding
Member of the BPS Special Group in Coaching Psychology. In 1999,
he was awarded a Personal Chair as Professor of Psychotherapy,
Counselling and Counselling Psychology. In 2000, Ernesto was
granted the BPS Counselling Psychology Division Award for Outstanding
Contributions to the Advancement of the Profession.Between 1997
and 2003, he was the Academic Dean of the School of Psychotherapy
and Counselling at Regent's College.
In 1998,
Ernesto oversaw the establishment at Regent's College of a
unique Conflict Mediation training programme for lawyers.
This programme, which incorporates principles and practical
skills drawn from existential analysis, became the first psychotherapeutically-influenced
Mediation programme to be recognised and approved by the British
Law Society.
In 2002,
Ernesto initiated a series of meeting with like-minded colleagues
in order to explore and develop an existentially-focused approach
to coaching, and in particular to performance and executive
coaching. In 2003, he was invited to join the visiting faculty
of the I-coach Academy where he continues to offer lectures,
applied training and coaching supervision to Diploma and Master's
degree trainees both in the UK and South Africa. In 2004,
Ernesto and his colleagues founded Ernesto Spinelli Associates,
an organisation dedicated to the advancement of coaching,
facilitation and psychotherapy through specialist seminars
and training programmes. In 2005, he was elected a Founding
Accredited Executive Coach and Founding Accredited Supervisor
of Executive Coaches by the Association for Professional Executive
Coaching and Supervision (APECS).
Ernesto's
many publications and textbooks appear on the reading lists
of numerous training programmes in the UK, North America,
Australia and Continental Europe. In particular, his text The Interpreted World (of which a new edition was published
in February, 2005) is required reading on various executive
coaching and facilitation programmes both in the UK and internationally.
